Washington, DC- Barber-Scotia's President Chris V. Rey,J.D. announced, today, a partnership with national public relations firm Roseboro Holdings to manage the colleges’ communications.

President Rey stated, “I am excited to bring a national public relations firm to Barber-Scotia College to share our rich history of faith, education, and perseverance.”
Barber-Scotia College was established in January 1867 as Scotia Seminary by Reverend Luke Dorland, commissioned by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) to create an institution in the South dedicated to educating African American women. After careful consideration, Concord, North Carolina was chosen as the school’s location, and its curriculum encompassed elementary, secondary, and normal school programs. Notable graduates include Mary-McCloud Bethune, Dr. Paulette Dillard, President of Shaw University, and Vivian Ayers Allen, the mother of Phylicia Rashad and Debbie Allen. The mission of the college has always focused on total student development as etched in the Faith Hall cornerstone: “For Head, Hand and Heart.”
